Parque Nacional

Since October 1944 the Arenal Park is official. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations of Costa Rica. The highly eruptive volcano with the same name was known as the sleeping volcano until the July 29 1968 after 300 years of inactivity when the volcano exploded and a devasting eruption demonstrated that for volcanoes hundreds of years is in time what for human is a fraction of a second.

Trails

There are many trails to be experienced in Arenal Volcano – La Fortuna area. For security reasons (especially around the volcano) we highly recommend to hire a professional guide. Tour Operators and Hotels and Lodges Front Desk will be helpful to give you the necessary information.

The Lake

The artificial lake (Laguna Arenal) has been an attraction since it has been created. You get the most beautiful views to the volcano and you can enjoy marvellous sunsets. Boat trips on the lake might be the best way to experiance the beauty of the lake and its surroundings.
